Features in: The Short Grioghal
Seoras Menzies (pronounced Mengies) has to prove his worth as the chieftain's son. It's the early 1600s and it's a troublesome period around Rannoch Moor with power-hungry Campbells hunting down MacGregors - proscribed as a clan since 1603 - and legally grabbing land of all those supporting the MacGregors. Seoras sympathises with the Gregarach and with one in particular: the Short Grioghal - a cateran who succesfully drives off Campbell cattle without harming a soul. But his sympathy and his ability to lead his township are put to the test when he discovers the identity of the Short Grioghal and takes her captive. It doesn't take long before Catriona MacGregor wins his loyalty and Seoras' sister's heart.
