Finn MacLeod is the youngest member of the family and felt like the odd-one-out for a long time. His parents, brother and sister are either teachers or studying to be one, whereas Finn is studying law. His family’s hobbies are easy-going ones compared to Finn’s love for rugby. He doesn’t feel any need to commit himself to any woman, and that in sharp contrast to the others. Deemed a “rebel”, Finn was the last to hear about his father’s secret past and the existence of a half-sister. Unable to talk to his family about this at first, he confides in his best friend Pat (Patricia). Then he meets his half-sister, Val: a lawyer with a black belt in karate. Val takes Finn under her wings and he completes his training at her office.
