2007
When Stephen Innes was sixteen, he founded a music band called Temper, with his best friend, Robert Jones. Stephen would write music and play his bass guitar from his quiet corner and Robert could be the face of the band. After nearly twenty years, the pair had had a bumpy ride, but the success is there. From the small English indie band they once were, they are now big enough to fill the Wembley Arena.
All could be well, if
it were not for one serious obstacle: for nearly two decades Stephen has been looking for the perfect drummer and when number twelve quits the band and Stephen is sucked into a gigantic writer's block, Robert and the other two band members take things out of his hands and choose their own drummer. When they come up with Lisa MacDonald, a foreigner with a passion for Scotland, Stephen is furious. But Robert puts his friendship on the line for this choice: either Lisa MacDonald joins them on their anniversary tour, or the band will stop.
I've written this twice already, the first time in the late ninetees, when it was deemed "too difficult" - "nobody thinks likes that", which is kind of harsh as these were my thoughts. So I wrote it again, but I'm still not pleased. Not even the title is still a certainty. No need to say, it's on my to-do list.
